How to run an ArchiveTeam Warrior on ESXi

Recently i wanted to run an ArchiveTeam Warrior on my ESXi Server. I know that there are ways to run the Warrior in containers and get much better performance, but i just wanted to get one running ASAP.

The .ova File can’t just be imported and run, since it was made for VirtualBox, not ESXi. The changes that need to be made to the file and how to import it into ESXi are documented in this wonderful blog post: Running the Archiveteam Warrior on ESXi

After running the ArchiveTeam Warrior you might want to give it a static IP. To log in, you have to open the Console by pressing Alt + F3.
The default Credentials are:

  • Username: root
  • Password: archiveteam

After logging in you can use vi to edit the config files, or you can install nano with the following commands:

apk update
apk upgrade
apk add nano

To set the IP, follow the Alpine Linux Docs and restart the network with the following command:

/etc/init.d/networking restart

At last, test if everything works:

ping 1.1.1.1
